t'was a good weekend (: it was immensely fun (:

eeww. anw, i had back to back duties from 8-3 so was a bit tiring. registration in the morning was ok, but the parents were so unsmiling! ): but yaye kudos to kim for being great company, sheena for being so eloquent even after i was grossly incoherent, denise for being the ever-so-helpful newater+giftpacks delivery girl (:

sheena kim andy > the welcoming committee

frankie and i (:

i hope the p6ers got a good impression, because well, (no matter how some other people might feel) rg is great. it's home. fine, we might not be able to compare up to let's say hci's school culture/spirit, but i still say we do fairly well. the slightly competitive spirit is a given (c'mon we're a top school after all), but strong friendships overlook all that.

oh, the psb booth is love. so chio with all the hearts and pink.

prettaye in pink (:

odac booth was just rockin. i think we impressed the socks off of everyone (:
13/14/15 yr olds, so young but go climb mountain already ah....wah...
haha no one said that, but i imagine that to be the typical thought running though their heads. zan's sister was there with her parents and she was like "ask jie jie to join odac with me!" HAHA zan move from choir > odac? O.o odac is a rockin cca (:

odac is a funky cca!

haha dragged chaochao to marina sq for dinner! mac&cheese at kenny rogers = <3! and i got birthday presents after that! so my list has been cut from 7 to 1! :D hooray! omg plain sunset and one buck short were good. the crowd was rowdy though, esp the moshpit and the surfers. i'm too lazy to type it out but if you want to know what happened with the crowd the the boucers ask me cos it's damn funny! :D:D:D

Presenting plain sunset!
Presenting one buck short!

sunday woke up at 7 for kayaking! the moment i walked into paddel culture, rachel, joce and the twins went "we thought you were asleep and called you until your voicemail was full!" aparently, serene told them i was still asleep cos i got home late the night before. HAHAHA they even called home and woke the dad up. he was extremely puzzled (: kayaking was good, we kayaked out in the sea and learnt new stuff. it was super cool cos we ha 3 instructors this time and one of them was a super super senior instructor called jun bing. he has like 15 yrs of exp kayaking! and crap, i realised i practically forgot everything from last week.
----------------------------------------------------------------
note: remember how beam (width), chine (hull shape) and volume of kayak affects the performance. there are 7 types of kayaks we learnt: foldable kayak, hybrid kayaks (sit on tops?), slalom kayak, playboating kayak (name?), canoe-polo kayak (name?), touring kayak, whitewater rafting kayak. and uhh? i can't rmb =/ materials kayaks (and paddles) are made of: plastic, wood, fibreglass, carbon, kevlar. ahh!!!! ): we learnt low support and recovery, high support and recovery, low brace turn instead, edging, leaning, TX rescue.

this week we learnt how the tides, tidal conditions, wind direction, hour of tide situation affects performance. Also beaching and launching, half eskimo bow rescue, kayak to swimmer rescue, capsize-swim to shore-empty. uhh what else?
---------------------------------------------------------------
AHAHA SO FUN! i love kayaking! (:

the kayaking instuctors are freaking nice. we had james agains (: then junbing (: then another guy (i don't know his name). all of them are super funny!

scenario 1a: weishan was carrying her kayak, james was behind her. then her kayak hit smth with a clang.
james: "oww, that was my head".
weishan "your head too high lah".

scenario 1b: i was walking back to get the paddles, james was walking in front of me in the opposite direction when the kayak he was carrying hit the metal lamppost.
me: "oww, that was my head!"
THEN HE LAUGHED AT ME. this time it was like duh, cannot possibly be my head cos i was in front of him and facing him.

then junbing is super nice and super funny! we were practicing our hip-flip for eskimo bow rescue. i was worrying that i couldn't do the flip, then i had to pair with jian wei (the only guy in our class).

junbing: can you pair with him?
me: erm ok...
junbing: 不要这么勉强可以吗?
me: OKAY OKAY!
/ i pity jianwei /

then jianwei tried the drill first, so junbing was guiding me how to hold the kayak. no matter how hard i held on the kayak kept shifting (aiyah i too small lah). so in the end he had to stand behind me in the water (i 失败 -.-) to help me. and then when i first did my drill, i used my hands instead of the hip-flip, so JUNBING HAD TO HOLD MY HEAD DOWN TO THE KAYAK! ahahah omg he actually held my head with his hands. srsly, i tell you i was going to die with laughter even though my kayak was flipped over. and then when jianwei did it again, junbing made ME hold his head down this time and i was dying with laughter again. the only other guy's head i've touched is like the brother's?! and that's only when i want to mess his hair.

then the convo that followed...
junbing: so cool right, you have to hold his (jianwei) head down.
me: err yeah, very weird though.
junbing: good chance to hold other people's head what.
me: ??? yeah i know, 我的头很小.
junbing: really ah? then proceeds to wrap my head in his hands and shake it side to side.
1) my head is REALLY very small, 2) his hands are REALLY very big.

srsly, this week's kayaking was uber hilarious :D:D:D so enjoyable

again, the instructors were having trouble remembering my name. so...
me: aiyah just call me by my nickname, andy.
junbing: why andy?!!!
me: uhh my friends gave me that nick...

junbing: aun-drea....
james: no, no it's AN-drea
junbing: an-drea...
james: yah correct, i learnt the correct way today also.
this reminds me of a phonetics lesson...

now i have a sunburn across my shoulder blades, and i swear im darker now. went to buy aloe vera gel today. even bathing is painful on the burn, and any contact with cloth makes it hurt ):
/ rmb to bring a cap next time /
